Nicky Jaques is a saxophonist specialising in jazz performance. She graduated form Nottignham University in 2007 with a BA in music. In 2008 she completed a graduate diploma in jazz at Birmingham conservatoire. Living in Nottingham and based in the Midlands she enjoys a busy musical life, gigging with numerous individuals, groups and bands whilst pursuing her own creative ambitions by writing and playing her own compositions.
Encompassing a broad range of skills on saxophone and clarinet supported by a rich academic understanding academic of music, she plays anything from blues and swing to bebop, Latin, Brazilian, funk, soul and contemporary jazz music. Nicky was recently winner of the Rising Star prize at the East Midlands Youth Jazz Awards 2008.
